Understand what your ASVAB scores actually mean.
The AFQT is used for enlistment eligibility. Military job classification can use other combinations of ASVAB subtest scores.
The four AFQT subtests
The official ASVAB program computes AFQT using standard scores from Arithmetic Reasoning (AR), Mathematics Knowledge (MK), Word Knowledge (WK), and Paragraph Comprehension (PC).
AFQT is reported as a percentile
A score of 50 means the examinee scored as well as or better than 50% of the reference group used for current AFQT norms.

AFQT vs. military jobs
Do not treat AFQT as a universal “job score.” The Services can use combinations of ASVAB subtest scores for job classification, and each branch has its own requirements. Medical, security, citizenship, education and other requirements can also matter.
